A short break in the Tatra Mountains – September 2024

The day has finally arrived. We’re off to our beloved Tatra Mountains ❤. We’re setting off from Szczecin in the early hours of 3 September; as soon as we arrive, we’ll head straight for the trail, and only after we return will we check into our accommodation. Our gear is ready, our rucksacks are packed to the brim, and according to yr.no the weather is set to be glorious, so our hiking plans are very ambitious.

As it’s always worth planning a trip like this, I’ve drawn up a list of routes we might manage to cover.

My modest list includes:

• Kuźnice - Kasprowy Wierch - Giewont - Kuźnice
• Kiry - Krzesanica - Kopa Kondracka - Kiry (Czerwone Wierchy)
• Kuźnice - Kasprowy Wierch - Świnica - Kuźnice
• Palenica Białczańska - Rysy
• Kuźnice - Kościelec - Kuźnice
• Palenica Białczańska - Morskie Oko - Szpiglasowy Wierch - Palenica Białczańska
• Kiry - Schronisko na Hali Ornak - Smreczyński Staw - Kiry
• Popradské pleso - Rysy (the route from the Slovak side, including a mandatory stop at the highest mountain hut in the Tatras and the toilet 😁)
• Skocznia narciarska - Sarnia Skała, Siklawica, Skocznia narciarska

Plans are plans, but it all depends on the weather, our health and how fit we are; but if everything goes to plan, we’ll come back with loads of memories, photos, videos, stats on our watches and a few kilos lighter 😁.
